Groundhog Day!!!!

Happy belated Groundhog Day. For those not from the USA, Groundhog day is a kind of a wierd tradition in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The festival leaders drag the Groundhog  (Punxsutawney Phil) out of it's little den and talk to it. The rodent wispers to them and tell's them, if he see's his shadow, that we are going to have 6 more weeks of winter. By far the wierdest of our widely recognized celebrations. The Bill Murray movie has made this tradition more widely recognized but it has been a tradition for many years before the movie. Believe it or not, that is not the only Groundhog Celebrtion... Potomac Phil is the one of the other ones... Soooo... Phil did see his shadow so we are going to have 6 more weeks of winter. I am planning on setting up the lawn chairs, BBQ and pool on March 16th!!!

Well it has been a while since I updated. I have been working steadily on Majestic Peacock from Joan Elliott. This has been really fun to do. Each feather links to the next one and I can stitch groups of feathers at a time. The most challenging part has been trying to keep my focus on the right feather. I have started buying those little post-it notes. They are about 1" x 1/2". I just surround the area I am working on. Works great!

Happy Stitching!!!

Chris

Peacock looks beautiful! Is there beading involved in this one?

There is some beading on this. A bead is in the "eye" of each feather, on the ends of the whispy hairs of the feathers and the and on the circle behind the Peacock's body. Can't wait!

Peacock's looking awesome, Chris!!! I've been playing with fabbie for him, but haven't found a combo that wows me yet. :)

If I could do it all over again, I would have chose a light gold with a brighter yellow or orange/pink area behind the peacock. Kinda like the sun is rising behind the body of the bird.
