Santa Was Good To Me

Due to the generousity of Ole St. Nick, my stash grew by five. In a related story... I was seen kissing Mrs. Claus after receiving these wonderful gifts. Added to my stash are...

  • "Angel of the Morning" - Lavender & Lace, Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum
  • "Dance of the Roses" - Lavender & Lace, Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum
  • "Oh, Christmas Tree" - Lavender & Lace, Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum
  • "Lady of the Mist" - Mirabilia, Nora Corbett
  • "Petite Christmas Angels" - Joan Elliott

Thanks Santa ;-)

So the big question is.... what does this mean for my plan to start the Swirling Peacock? I am still on track for that. As Kate pointed out in my previous post "Christmas is Almost Here" , New year... New project. Most people wanted me to start the Swirling Peacock so the Swirling Peacock it is!

I am so close to finishing my last Folk Art Angel (wreath). I only have to finish a little bit of cross stitch, do all the back stitch and a few french knots (ugggg). Ok maybe I am not as close as I thought.

Happy Stitching!!!!

Christmas is Almost Here

So I figured it was time for an update. It is getting down to the wire and my Folk Art Angels are no done yet. Two are framed and ready to go (present & candle). One still needs some french knots (tree). And I am working on the one that is holding the wreath... I have the lower dress, border, hair and wings done. I did something different on the wreath angel... I did the white and grey in DMC Satin floss. It is really shiny with a slight purple hue. It looks good on the wings and dress... it kinda makes them glow! There are all the presents to wrap so I can only commit so much time... ugggg. I will post final pictures after Christmas.

The family is headed to California for Christmas to visit family.

The real question is.... What project should I work on after I get back???

  1. Guardian Angel (L&L) - My very first project and about 1/2 done.
  2. Summer Fairy (Joan Elliott) - Just started.
  3. Swirling Peacock (Joan Elliott) - Not Started
  4. The Gardener (Joan Elliott) - Not Started
  5. Oriental Lady (Joan Elliott) - Not Started

Please let me know what you think...

Happy Stitching!!!

Progress

It's time for an update. Here is my latest pictures...

Guardian Angel - Lavender & Lace

and a blurry version of Folk Art Angel #2 (Candle)

Believe it or not that was the least blurry photo. I used Mill Hill petitie beads instead of french knots. Not quite finished yet. I need to do the face and the shoe buttons.

That's it :-)

To Knot or Not to Knot?....Not!

Ok... I broke down and decided to try using beads instead of french knots. I bought some gold and black Mill Hill petite beads. Even though these beads are tiny I think they are still too large for the angel's eyes. We shall see...

I have been working on Guardian Angel from L&L. I am working on the white/cream colored lacy part of her dress. Can't wait to get that part done. I had been considering starting over but my faithful blog readers convinced me to finish and work out the spacing issues at the top. Thanks ladies!

I also have almost all of the supplies for Renissance Rose by Joan Elliott. I only need the floss now. Can't wait to start :-)

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I have 4 days off.. woo hoo! I plan to get some real stitching done and watch the Lions and the Cowboys play football. Of course helping make dinner and doing dishes too :-)

WIP Guardian Angel Update

Greetings,

Well my Hermit and Stitch weekend went well. I was able to stitch all day Saturday and half the day on Sunday. My progress sure is slow. I guess I am just a slow stitcher. I have decided to do white for the wings and silk floss for the grey areas. The silk white was just too bright and it has a purple sheen to it that does not fit the piece.

Why didn't I stitch all weekend? I am glad you asked. My beautiful wife invited two kids over which was a little distracting. I also cleaned the above ground pool for the winter and will put it away soon. I also went to Joann Fabrics and bought the fabric and floss for my christmas angels. I hope these don't distract me too much from my big project :-)

Hermit & Stitch Before Photo Guardian Angel

Hey everyone!

Well, I haven't made huge progress since my last photo. Let's call it "steady" progress. I usually stitch about 100 stitches a night. The big Hermit & Stitch weekend is the day after tomorrow. I am really excited. My goal is to fill in the green dress area and watch tons of college football. Go Ducks!!!!

Part of the reason I am so slow is that I have been railroading every stitch. I am getting faster though.

Wish me luck.

Stitch All Weekend

My wife has agreed to let me stitch all day Saturday and Sunday of next weekend. Not this weekend but next weekend. I am so excited! I hope to make major progress on my WIP "Guardian Angel". She is so amazing and understanding!

I will also be watching as much College Football as my brain can absorb. I love this time of the year!! Since we turned off the cable, there aren't as many games to choose from but I should still be able to get in 8 hours of college football on Saturday and 8 hours of pro football on Sunday. Ok... I have men's church group on Sunday and maybe church...other than that...all cross stitch. Are you jealous? I don't blame you :-)

Go Oregon Ducks!!

WIP Update - Guardian Angel

Yea! It's update time. I am posting an updated picture of my current project "Guardian Angel" from Lavender & Lace. I have been doing multiple columns of one color. The advantage of this is that I can tie off the colors in between these columns very easily. The disadvantage is that it is easier to make mistakes because the sections are far apart. Another bummer is that I have to wait a long time before I can see a section complete :-(

This week I double checked that the design is going to fit. Just barely! I will only have 7 stitches of room left on the top when I am done. Lesson learned: Use a bigger piece on fabric next time.

Happy Stitching!!
