Floss and Frogging
Yesterday I went to Joann Fabrics and the floss was on sale. $.33 a skein. With the coupon available online I paid $.28/skein. Cheers!!!! So I finished my floss library.
On a different note, I frogged a big section of my current piece (Morning Angel). This area was dark blue stitches and the fabric was showing through. The problem... Stitches were too tight. I redid them with less tension and they look so much better. I need to learn to stop when the stitches aren't looking right and figure out what's wrong. Lesson learned.

I stitch too tight too. The fabric afterwards is all deformed. Wanted to use a frame ... but got talked out of ... for all the stretch marks from the loop.
I didn't know JoAnn's had floss on sale! I just stocked up at Michael's, where the regular price is 35 cents and I had a 15% off coupon, so I paid 29-30 cents per skein. Good for you for finding the best deal!
I know that a lot of people stitch without a hoop or frame. I am not sure how they manage the thread tension issue.
I started cross stitching using an embroidery hoop. I didn't really like the marks it left, the damage it did when I had to tighten it down on to existing stitches and the inconsistent tension. So I switched to a Q-Snap frame. I love it. I bought an 11" set and a 17" set and combined them together so my frame is 11" x 17". I use a protective layer of fabric over the stitches whenever I need to snap the frame over existing stitches. A q-snap may be a good option for you.

I like the everyday price at Michaels but the floss area is usually a mess and they are usually out of some of the colors I want. You're store probably is better about that but mine is awful. If they would keep the floss stocked I could deal with the mess.
